Recently Nina Hammerling from Guideposts.com interviewed Patrick for October - Adopt A Shelter Dog Month. She describes MUTTS : "In turns funny, poignant, beautiful and just plain wise, Mutts offers glimpses into how Mooch and Earl—and their many friends of all species—see the world. Along the way, it shows us a lot about human nature, too."

I love mutts! i am trying to collect every book...yeah i am just that cool.
When i was young, like Patrick, i wanted a dog more than the whooooole world! My parents relented and bought a "purebred" Mini Schnauzer on the recommendation of the allergist. They got her from one of those stores on the highway. I remember she was on sale - discounted because she was "old" (8 months). Only later did we understand she came from a puppy mill. Though we loved her enormously, she had health & behavioral issues which pestered her 14 years. But she was THE dog of my childhood & of course, that is a very esteemed position for any pooch!
These days we cater to 2 greyhounds, rescued/retired (we are also in NJ). Tristan had successful racing career in MA. Simon didn't make the grade in the training camps in FL and was slated for death till he got lucky in the 11th hour. They couldn't be more different! They are our 'Pinky & the Brain' and we love them enormously.
I encourage everyone i meet to adopt & rescue. No matter what their needs or interests, there is a lonely pup waiting in a shelter to love them.
