We at Muttscomics just love Oprah, and we're thrilled that the November issue of O, the Oprah Magazine has given Guardians of Being a full -page rave review! Cathleen Medwick writes:
(Eckhart's) serene text tells you how to relish each moment, and McDonnell responds with droll, delicately rendered drawings.... A book to make you wriggle with joy.
Pick up the November issue of O which is on newstands now. Oprah is, of course, on the cover. The entire review is also available at oprah.com.

Patrick, I just read Guardians of Joy to my husband and pup, who were happily resting beside me. It definitely would have made me "wriggle with joy" if it wouldn't have upset the sleeping pup. :) I read the review in Oprah and thought it was perfect--and very true.
I recently was looking through posted photos of dogs competing for "cutest" in a contest, and this one dog, Gilmore, stood out as having the most appealing face and inquisitive, loving eyes. I clicked on his photo to read more about him and was horrified and appalled at all he's gone through (it made me think of Guard Dog in your strips). Yet look at that sweet face! He's a shining example, in my opinion, of how amazingly resilient and determinedly loving dogs are. One of the many reasons that being loved by a dog feels, in some way, like being loved by God. That connection with the Spirit as a result of being with our "guardians of being" is so well expressed in your book. Bless you for it. If you have a chance, check out Gilmore and his story (it's a very short paragraph). He's at a shelter and I pray someone adopts him soon...unfortunately, he's not near us. Here's the link:
